The Marion Lake Lookout is a fantastic viewpoint located at the end of a 3.4mi out-and-back trail, from which hikers can look out over the mountain peaks that frame Rogers Pass. The trail features a bit of uphill climbing, but this is largely distributed through a series of switchbacks early on in the hike. Make sure to spend some time exploring around the lake and taking in the amazing alpine views of Glacier National Park.

Marion Lake Lookout Description

The trek up to the Marion Lake Lookout is an amazing hiking route within Glacier National Park that climbs up a series of switchbacks to arrive at the beautiful waters of Marion Lake. This 3.4mi trail is located within bear country, so remember to travel in large groups, bring bear spray, and make lots of noise to avoid any potentially dangerous encounters. For anyone looking to spend a few days within the park to explore the trails, camping is possible at the Illecillewaet Campground near the trailhead.

Along the trail you will gain a moderate amount of elevation as you work through the tough switchbacks to arrive at the edge of the lake. This is a great spot to sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the surrounding alpine terrain. From here, follow the trail across the stream to the right to continue on to a spectacular lookout that provides hikers with a view over Rogers Pass, including the Cheops, Cougar, and Bagheera mountains. After taking in the sights, return along the same trail that you came in on.
