Vail Map

Vail is one of the great ski resorts in America. Famous for the back bowls and the wonderful villages at the base, most people make a pilgrimage to Vail for a ski holiday once in their lives. What most don’t know, however, is that Vail is an all-season resort, and a summer holiday can be even better!

Vail is located roughly 2 hours from Denver, though in a snowstorm expect that journey time to increase. Surrounded by White River National Forest, the region is home to big mountains, icy-clear rivers and stunning mountain lakes.

Winter sees abundant options for a great holiday. Downhill skiing is what makes Vail famous, however you can also cross-country ski, snowshoe and even backcountry ski. Great hotels and restaurants mean you can have a luxury ski holiday with the whole family.

Summer in Vail allows visitors to enjoy the great hotels and restaurants, only explore the mountains on foot instead of skis. We love the hiking in Vail, with the Upper Piney River Falls trail, as well as the Gore Lake Trail being favourites.

If you don’t want to hike, consider exploring the Vail area on a mountain bike, as Eagle County boasts some of the best mountain biking in the state. There is also great road bike riding on the local mountain roads. Finally, the mountain rivers allow for great white-water rafting.

A holiday in Vail is a trip you’ll be sure to enjoy.
