Mayrhofen, a charming mountain town in Austria, sits near the end of the stunning Ziller Valley, known locally as the Zillertal. While Mayrhofen is our favorite base to explore the valley, as the town has great services and ambiance, there are many other towns to be based from.

The highlight of Mayrhofen is the outdoors. In winter there is world-class skiing, with numerous resorts accessed from the valley floor. In summer, the hiking is spectacular, and the opportunities for cycling, mountain bike riding, climbing, and trekking are wonderful. If you come to Mayrhofen for a summer vacation, make sure to spend at least one night in a nearby mountain hut, and enjoy some stunning time in nature.
