A holiday in Canada can pretty much be anything you want, but if you are looking for a mountain adventure in the west, plan a trip to Canmore, Alberta! Nestled in the heart of the Bow Valley, you will find this quaint mountain town is the perfect jumping off point to any adventure.

We love a trip to Canmore in any season! The summer months heat up, but never so warm that you can’t enjoy your time outside - hiking, biking, trail riding, rafting, fishing or just about anything you can think of. There are numerous trails to venture out on, some even starting right in town, and others a short drive away.

Winter is not much different, with amazing ski hills just a short drive away. Try some cross-country skiing or snowshoeing at the Canmore Nordic Centre. If you don’t have sports equipment, don’t worry, there are many places around town to rent whatever you may need for any activity, in any season!

One of our favourite things about a trip to Canmore is that although Canmore is close the famous Banff National Park there doesn’t seem to be the same crowds. Particularly, we have noticed in the shoulder seasons when the weather is still great, the crowd levels are low, leading to some very magical moments out in the wild.

Canmore is a picturesque getaway, settled between towering peaks with streets lined with local shops and friendly faces, we love to spend time just wandering around town. Popping into a few of our favourite local shops and eateries or perusing the many art galleries that line the streets is an excellent way to spend an afternoon any time of the year. Throw in a short hike leaving from town, and end the day with dinner at one of the many fantastic restaurants and you’ve got a perfect day in Canmore!
