Around Lake Louise Map

If you are visiting the Canadian west, a trip to Lake Louise is sure to be on your list! It is one of the most photographed places in Canada (and possibly in the world) for a reason. The stunning blue of the glacier fed water, perfectly framed by the snow-capped mountains, topped off by a beautiful Chateau Lake Louise on the water’s edge makes this a picturesque location.

What is perhaps the best kept secret about Lake Louise is that there is an even prettier lake only 10 minutes away. Head over to Moraine Lake to visit Canada’s most stunning lake. Moraine Lake is spectacular, especially at dawn or dusk, when the crowds are lower.

Lake Louise is best visited in winter, summer, or fall as the spring tends to still have cooler temperatures but not quite cold enough to maintain the snow pack needed for many winter adventures. Thus, although you will find the crowd levels are significantly lower in spring, you may not be able to truly enjoy the area. Fall is another opportunity to get away from the crowds with better weather for hiking or biking as the trees change color!

The summer and winter seasons boast plenty of outdoor adventure options at Lake Louise and the surrounding area. Photographers flock to the Lake Louise area, thanks to the stunning lakes all around – such as Moraine Lake, Peyto Lake, Lake O’Hara and Emerald Lake.

A trip to Lake Louise provides many opportunities for adventure, with options to canoe, white water raft, hike, fish, and bike in the summer. While in winter there are opportunities for skating, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and of course, downhill skiing or boarding at the Lake Louise Ski Resort.

No matter the season, we love a trip out to Lake Louise. The food is always great, the options for accommodation in and out of town are plentiful, the atmosphere is always friendly, and of course the beauty of nature around us is inspiring!
