Indian Peaks Wilderness Map

If you’re living outside Colorado, you probably don’t know much about the Indian Peaks Wilderness, which is a shame, as it’s a beautiful part of the state. The park straddles the Continental Divide, and is a popular daytrip spot for locals from Boulder and Denver.

Indian Peaks Wilderness is where Denver and Boulder locals go for their hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Located just south of Rocky Mountain National Park, Indian Peaks Wilderness Area has wonderful options for outdoor fun.

Summer sees the snow melt and the mountains explode with wild flowers. There is a wealth of hiking, biking, climbing and mountaineering opportunities. Our favourites are hikes to local peaks and mountain lakes, such as Lone Eagle Peak or Lake Dorothy. Winter means lots of snow and great backcountry skiing, snowshoeing and even some good cross-country skiing.

We like to combine a trip to Indian Peaks Wilderness Area with a visit to Rocky Mountain National Park, a great way to explore some of the best sites Colorado has to offer.
