A trip to the French Pyrenees is a lovely holiday, no matter what you’re after. This mountain range is in the SW corner of France and straddles the border with Spain, separating the main continent of Europe and the Iberian Peninsula. With peaks reaching over 11155ft, the options for adventure here are endless.

In the warmer months, usually considered to be June - September (although depending on snow the season may extend from May - October) the mountainsides are covered in hiking and biking trails. Hiking is very popular, and you can go for a few hours to over a month, if you choose the famous GR 10 which runs the length of the Pyrenees, following the French/Spanish border.

Of course, there are many other adventures such as canyoning, mountain biking, and paragliding. It’s nice to spend a day or two in one of the lovely mountainside towns taking in the lively atmosphere and excellent food.

In the winter, you can trade in your hiking boots for skis, snowshoes or a snowboard and head to one of the multiple downhill resorts or join a winter ski tour.

With any holiday to France, don’t forget to take in some of the history! The village of Gavarnie is home to the Cirque de Gavarnie, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is arguably one of the most popular and stunning sites in the area. A trip to the French Pyrenees would not be complete without a visit to the Cirque.

We hope you love the French Pyrenees as much as we do!
