Bear Creek Trail Description

Although the terrain along the Bear Creek Trail isn’t overly difficult, it is the long overall distance that adds to the challenge on this beautifully scenic hike. Whether you aim to complete the entire trail or just a small portion of it, this is a fantastic route if you are looking for a bit of solitude in the mountains.

Setting out from the Bear Creek Trailhead, you will cross over the Dolores River and begin climbing up the steep switchback trail to the southwest. The trail is well-marked throughout; however, there are some sections that are beginning to grow over with brush, so make sure to wear long pants.

Continuing along the trail as it runs parallel to Bear Creek, you will make your way to the southeast through the tranquil atmosphere of the woodland landscape. Here, you can follow along the path for as long as you are willing to, before turning back along the same route to return to the trailhead where you began your adventure.
