Levisham and Newton Dale Walk Description

If you are after a fairly quick adventure in North York Moors National Park that will expose you to a variety of terrain types and scenic views, then the Levisham and Newton Dale Walk is a great option to do so. Picturesque English countryside, barren moorland terrain, and forested valleys dissected by winding becks await on this scenic adventure north of Pickering.

Setting out from the trailhead in the village of Levisham, you will head to the south along the road and break away to the east to enter into the cover of Levisham Wood. Here, you will follow along the trail as it traverses the hillside and eventually bends to the north to run alongside the winding banks of Levisham Beck.

At the point where Levisham Beck meets up with Dundfale Griff, head to the west and climb up the hillside, where you will eventually begin to traverse the rugged terrain of Levisham Moor. After passing Dundale Pond, you will continue on to the west and begin to descend the hillside, turning south to begin the final leg of the walk. Eventually, you will turn to the east and traverse the open countryside to make your way into the trailhead in Levisham.
