The Kildale Moor Walk is a fantastic route in North York Moors National Park that will expose you to the beautiful - if rugged - terrain in this region. While out on the trail, you will climb uphill across the barren landscape of the moor, taking in views of the surrounding hills as you work your way to Guisborough Woods. Sections of this trail can be a bit tricky to navigate, so make sure that you have a GPS or decent trail map.

Kildale Moor Walk Description

If you are looking for a bit of solitude and the chance to explore the breathtaking terrain of the North York Moors, then the Kildale Moor Walk will provide you with the opportunity to do so. Some of the terrain here is fairly rough, with boggy and wet patches throughout that can make for a particularly arduous journey in the winter. Be sure to wear sturdy, water-resistant footwear for this walk.

Setting out from the trailhead in Commondale, you will head to the northeast and almost immediately begin to traverse the rugged landscape of the moors. As you continue to the north, you will enjoy stunning views that sweep across the park, eventually arriving at a small stretch of forest known as GHuisborough Woods. From here, you will loop back to the southwest, once again traversing the barren landscape as you make your way downhill towards the starting point of your adventure.
