Carter Falls and Madcap Falls via Longmire Hike Description

Carter Falls and Madcap Falls are both wonderful places to enjoy, especially on a hot day. This trail accesses both falls from Longmire, making it a very convenient trip. Make sure you check with the park regarding the status of the bridge over the Nisqually River, as it can be washed out in wet conditions. This trail is suitable for active children.

The hike begins from Longmire, departing north from Forest Road 012 a block east of Longmire-to-Paradise Road. Take Wonderland Trail, staying right at the Y-junction.
