Sandy Seep to Little Elden Spring Description

Sandy Seep to Little Elden Spring is a hike that leads you through the trees and along the fields underneath Elden Mountain and Little Elden Mountain. This hike is moderately difficult, scenic, and good for all skill levels. In the early summer, the wildflowers are gorgeous. This route doesn’t get very busy, either.

There are a lot of interconnecting trails in this area, so consider bringing a GPS route or map if you’re unfamiliar with the routes. Mountain bikers, you may find this trail too sandy to bike effectively.

From the trailhead, take Arizona Trail-Sandy Seep. You’ll walk through an area with impressive oaks, ponderosa pines, and junipers. The route undulates gently, keeping the hike interesting with its elevation changes. Take a right to stay onto Old Little Elden Trail, then take another right further on back onto Arizona Trail-Little Elden. You’ll weave your way towards the base of Little Elden Mountain, where the route ends right before the horse camp. Turn back here and retrace your steps.
