Across the highway from popular Fish Lake, Goldeye Lake sees less traffic and offers a beautiful trail that wraps around the lake’s shores. The loop takes hikers out to the lake and around the perimeter, where wonderful spots to stop and appreciate nature abound.
Getting there
To get to Goldeye Lake, start in Nordegg and join Highway 11 westbound for 8km before turning right onto Goldeye Lake Road.

Goldeye Lake Trail Description
From the parking area, the Goldeye Lake Trail starts on an obvious path that travels 984ft to the first junction. The loop starts here, and you can choose to hike in either direction as this is a short loop and comes back to the junction either way. Hike along the shore, and be sure to take in the sights during your journey. Loop back to the main junction and return to the parking area. If you want to explore this area more, plan to stay at the Goldeye Lake campground for a night or two.
