The Waterman Mountain Loop Trail is a fantastic hiking route in Southern California that features a decent amount of elevation gain and some spectacular views. While out on the trail, you will explore the forested slopes of Waterman Mountain and traverse an undulating ridgeline, before pressing on to the summit for an unforgettable view. Make sure that you are in possession of a valid adventure pass prior to beginning your excursion.

The trailhead for this hike can be found at the car park next to the Buckhorn Day Use Area along CA-2.

Waterman Mountain Loop Trail Description
Featuring some of the best views within the boundary of the Angeles National Forest, the Waterman Mountain Loop Trail is a fantastic route to explore. Although it is incredibly scenic, the trail can also see a fair bit of traffic during peak hours, so be sure to plan your trek accordingly.
Setting out from the parking lot, you will head west over CA-2 in order to pick up the trail. Turning south at the junction, you will begin climbing uphill along the forested slopes to eventually reach the top of the ridge.
Turning to the west, continue along the ridge until you arrive at the summit of Waterman Mountain, where you can pause for a break while enjoying the view. From here, you will follow the trail to the northwest for a short distance, before heading right at a junction. Continuing down the slope of the mountain, you will make your way northeast until you arrive back at the trailhead.
