Golden Canyon Trail to Red Cathedral Description
While not excessively long, the Golden Canyon Trail to Red Cathedral Trail possesses a fair amount of elevation incline in relation to its distance, and so it is therefore not recommended for families with young children. The Golden Canyon Trail to Red Cathedral Trail can also get very hot, and so we suggest going early to beat the intense midday heat.
With your vehicle parked, locate the trailhead at the eastern section of the parking lot. Follow the Golden Canyon Trail as it heads east through a canyon, steadily inclining in elevation as it goes. The route will bring you to a junction, where you are to continue straight along Golden Canyon Trail. After the junction, with large cliff faces to your south, the trail will veer to the northeast and arrive at a second junction.
At the second junction – with the beautiful rock formation of Manly Beacon to your south – continue along Golden Canyon Trail as it heads northeast. You will soon arrive at the scenic, yet imposing, Red Cathedral where the trail will then end. Enjoy the views and take some pictures before backtracking your steps towards the trailhead and your waiting vehicle.
