The Twin Falls and Little Yoho Valley Trail is a scenic hiking route that will take you between two backcountry campsites in Yoho National Park, BC. While out on the trail, you will make your way past Marpole Lake and traverse a tough boulder field while working around the forested base of Whaleback Mountain to arrive at the Little Yoho Valley Campground. Hikers should note that the road into the trailhead is closed seasonally, making this route accessible only in the June-September window.

Getting there

To reach the trailhead for the Twin Falls and Little Yoho Valley Trail from Field, head northeast for 2.2mi along BC-1E and turn left onto Yoho Valley Road, following it for 8.3mi to arrive at the car park. From here, you will need to hike along the Yoho Valley Trail to reach the starting point of the hike at the Twin Falls Campground.

Twin Falls and Little Yoho Valley Trail Description

The Twin Falls and Little Yoho Valley Trail isn’t an overly difficult hike; however, there are some rough boulder sections of trail that will test your fitness. Additionally, the trailhead for this hike begins at the Twin Falls Campground, meaning that you will need to either camp overnight here or hike into the trailhead, adding extra distance to your day out on the trails.

Setting out from the trailhead at the Twin Falls Campground, you will follow the trail to the west to pass the Twin Falls Chalet before turning south to make your way past Marpole Lake. Here, you will need to traverse a boulder field that will tire out your legs a bit before continuing along the foot of Whaleback Mountain. After rounding a bend in the trail, you will once again make your way to the west, following the banks of the Little Yoho River as you take in the natural beauty of your surroundings. Eventually, you will arrive at the end point of your hike, the Little Yoho Valley Campground surrounded by a breathtaking scene of peaceful forest and dramatic mountain peaks.
