Setting out from the trailhead at the edge of Ophir Pass Road, you will first need to locate the trailhead amidst the rocky landscape. The GPS will come in handy here, but after finding the trail it will be relatively easy to follow the rest of the way uphill.

As you work your way up the rugged scree slope, take some time to appreciate the natural beauty of the mountain landscape surrounding you. In short order, you will arrive at the beautiful shores of Crystal Lake, where you can relax and take in the majesty of the San Juan Mountains, before heading back downhill along the same rocky path.
