Porter Fork Trail Description

The Porter Fork Trail is a lovely hike through the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This trail is a challenging route for experienced hikers. Although dogs are permitted on this trail, please keep in mind that this is a strenuous hike that may not be appropriate for all pups. If your dog does come along with you on this hike, they must be kept on a leash at all times. The steep, consistent ascent along this trail will give you a fantastic workout in an environment that is way prettier than your local gym. In the winter, it can be a whole lot of fun to hike up this trail then sled, ski, or snowboard your way back down.

To hike the Porter Fork Trail, begin at the boundary gate on Porter Fork on the south side of Mill Creek Canyon Road. Pass through the boundary gate then follow the trail southeast. Stay right at the two divides as you make your way to the junction with the Desolation Trail. This junction marks the end of the Porter Fork Trail.

At the junction of the Porter Fork Trail, the Desolation Trail, and the Wildcat Ridge Trail, simply turn around and follow the same route back to the trailhead.
