Mill A Basin Trail Description

Mill A Basin is a gorgeous hiking trail in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This trail may be short but it is steep the whole way up. Wearing good hiking footwear, and bringing along hiking poles, and lots of water is recommended for this route. As this trail is in Big Cottonwood Canyon, dogs, unfortunately, are not permitted. For a particularly beautiful experience along the Mill A Basin Trail, we recommend hiking this route in July when the wildflowers are in full bloom.

From the Butler Fork Trailhead, follow the path north along Butler Fork and then take a left at the divide to hike the switchbacks heading west. Take a right at the next divide to hike a short distance to a junction with the Desolation Trail. This junction marks the turn-around point for the Mill A Basin Trail; at this point, simply turn around and follow your footsteps back to the trailhead.

If you are up to explore more in the area, a quick out-and-back to Circle All Peak can be a great addition to the Mill A Basin Trail. Alternatively, check out the Beartrap Fork Trail nearby.
