The Ferguson Canyon to Upper Meadow Trail is a steep and consistent climb up to a gorgeous mountain meadow. This trail is located just outside of Salt Lake City in the Twin Peaks wilderness area and is a great route for experienced hikers. Dogs are also allowed to join you on this trail, but must be kept on leash for the duration of their hike.

Getting there

From highway 210, turn southeast onto Honeywood Cove Drive. Take your first left onto Prospector drive then a right onto Timberline Drive and park in the lot. The Ferguson Canyon Trail begins on the east side of Timberline Drive.

Ferguson Canyon Trail to Upper Meadow Description

The Ferguson Canyon Trail to Upper Meadow is a challenging, out-and-back route for experienced hikers. This trail is steep, so wear proper footwear and bring hiking poles if you’d like some extra support. Dogs are allowed along this route but must be kept on leash at all times. Bring more than enough water for you and your pup when you head out on this adventure. Located in the Twin Peaks Wilderness Area, the Ferguson Canyon Trail is a gorgeous hike through aspen forest and towering canyon walls decorated with trickling streams and vibrant wildflowers. This hike is a beautiful way to spend a day outside and away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

From the trailhead, follow the path northeast. The trail will divide about a third of a mile in. Keep right to stay on route and continue up the path for another 1.8mi to arrive at Upper Meadow.

Take a well-deserved rest at Upper Meadow before turning around and following the same route back to the trailhead.
