Brighton Lakes Loop Description
The Brighton Lakes Loop is a fantastic, challenging route for experienced hikers. Sections of this hike are steep and loose, so hikers should be prepared with proper footwear and an appropriate skill level. Hiking poles can also be a huge help on this route, and traction devices are strongly recommended if you are hiking in the early spring or late fall. It is important to note that all of these lakes are within a protected watershed, so swimming is not permitted. The Brighton Lakes Loop travels through some of the most beautiful landscape in the Uinta Wasatch Forest. With opportunities to see wildlife and fields of wildflowers that burst with color in the summertime, a hike along this trail is certainly one to remember!
From the trailhead, follow the path north to see the first lake on your tour: Silver Lake. After looping around the north end of Silver Lake, head south to your second stop: the Twin Lakes Reservoir. The trail will now turn southeast to beautiful Lake Mary. When you reach Lake Mary, follow the trail out and back to Lake Martha and Lake Catherine, before continuing along the loop. To hit up your last lake stop, take the short trail to a point just east of Lake Mary to Dog Lake.
Once you’ve finished seeing all six lakes, complete the loop by heading north back to the trailhead where you began.
