The Cheviots, Hen Hole, and Auchope Cairn Walk is a beautiful and simultaneously challenging route in Northumberland that will take you into the Cheviot Hills to view a charming waterfall. While out walking the trail, you will follow along the banks of College Burn and climb uphill through the College Valley to view the cascading waters at Hen Hole, before continuing through the hills to reach Auchope Cairn. This route will certainly tire you out, but the views are truly spectacular.

For those adventurers that are after a lengthy and challenging journey through the rugged Cheviot Hills of Northern England, The Cheviots, Hen Hole, and Auchope Cairn Walk will produce some breathtaking views of the picturesque landscape.

Setting out from the car park just outside of Hethpool, you will make your way to the southwest along the floor of the College Valley, following alongside the banks of College burn as you take in the views of the surrounding hills. Keep a n eye out here, as you will likely be able to spot some wild Cheviot Goats roaming the countryside.

After passing by Blackhaggs Rigg, The Schil, and west hill, you will arrive at the scenic location of Hen Hole, where you will have some impressive views of a cascading waterfall set in a deep chasm. From here, you will continue uphill along the Scotland/England border, traversing Auchope Rigg to reach Auchope Cairn. After taking in the spectacular views of the surrounding hills, you will make your way back downhill and into the valley on the return leg of the journey to the car park.
