While out walking the trail, you will traverse the undulating landscape and pass by the giant weathered sandstone rocks known as the Wainstones before taking in the breathtaking views from atop Cringle Moor. Getting there
To reach the trailhead for The Wainstones and Cringle Moor Walk from Stokesley, head southeast on B1257 for 4.4mi and turn left to enter the car park.

A breathtaking adventure filled with interesting geological formations, fun terrain, and stunning views, The Wainstones and Cringle Moor Walk is an amazing trail that should be on everyone’s list. Regardless of the aim of your walk, you can rest assured that an afternoon spent on this trail will leave you feeling a sense of achievement and satisfaction at having traversed the undulating terrain to experience the beautiful landscape of the North York Moors.
Setting out from the car park, you will head to the west and immediately begin climbing up the rugged hillside to reach the summit of White Hill. From here, you will continue along the trail towards the large sandstone formation known as the Wainstones, which is a popular spot for rock climbers in the area.
After exploring the area, keep on to the west and traverse the undulating landscape, eventually working your way around the somewhat barren terrain of Cringle Moor to experience sweeping views of the surrounding terrain. Once you have taken in the views, follow the path back to the east, once again traversing the hilly landscape on the return to the car park.
