The Cold Moor, The Wainstones, and White Hill Walk is an exciting trail in North York Moors National Park that will see you traverse some rugged terrain for picturesque views. While out walking the trail, you will climb uphill along White Hill to visit the imposing sandstone formation of the Wainstones, before looping around the northern tip of Cold Moor. This is a fun walk that isn’t overly long or difficult, making it perfectly suitable for a wide variety of walkers.

The trailhead for the Cold Moor, The Wainstones, and White Hill Walk can be found on the right side of B1257, just after the Clay Bank Top Car Park.

Cold Moor, The Wainstones, and White Hill Walk Description

If you are after a fun excursion in the North York Moors that features some rugged terrain and beautifully scenic views, but also has the added bonus of not being too difficult or long, then the Cold Moor, The Wainstones, and White Hill Walk is a fantastic option.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will head to the west and immediately begin to climb up the hillside, traversing the rugged terrain atop White Hill while taking in the scenic views along Raven’s Scar. After passing by the giant rock formations known as The Wainstones, you will briefly descend the hillside before climbing up the opposite side.

Here, you will traverse the very northern top of Cold Moor, looping around the barren landscape and enjoying some sweeping views of the park, before heading back to the east. Once again climbing uphill past The Wainstones, you will traverse Hasty Bank and descend the hillside into the trailhead.
