Getting there

To get to the trailhead for the hike to Grand Park via Lake Eleanor Trail from Enumclaw, drive east on State Route 410 for 25.0mi. Turn right onto FR 73 and continue for 9.0mi. Continue into FR 7360, driving for 1.0mi to the crossing at Eleanor Creek. You can park on the roadside or the small lot about 150ftpast the trailhead.

The hike to Grand Park on Lake Eleanor Trail is a beautiful trek, offering the opportunity to access Grand Park via a different route than the long, arduous Sunrise approach. This ocean of wildflowers underneath Mount Rainier is an unforgettable destination, and the route via Lake Eleanor is a much easier way to get there.

From FR7360, cross a bootpath at the edge of Eleanor Creek. The trail rises into the forest and climbs at a moderate pace. Reach Lake Eleanor in one mile, stopping to enjoy the scenery. Keep hiking along the same trail, now gaining elevation more aggressively. The trail alternates between meadows and forest cover.

Break into Grand Park, a wide expanse of meadow underneath the looming summit of Mount Rainier. In wildflower season, this area is breathtaking! Walk to the high point of the meadow for the best view.

Once you’re ready, retrace your steps or continue ahead to connect with the Northern Loop Trail.
