Signal Mountain Loop Hike

The Signal Mountain Loop Hike is a family-friendly version of the well-revered Signal Mountain Hike. Unlike the latter, the Signal Mountain Loop does not summit the forested summit; instead, it explores the lush woodlands and meadows below the mountain. Hikers of all ages can explore this route, abundant with fauna, including moose and bears. As this trail is located in bear territory, bear spray is necessary—make sure at least one person in your party has a canister handy. Note the Grand Teton National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.

Embark on your adventure along the Signal Mountain Loop from the Signal Mountain Lodge Parking Lot. Setting out from here, head south along the Signal Mountain Marina Road and onto the Signal Mountain Trail. Soon after departing the trailhead, the path will cross over Teton Park Road and subsequently Signal Mountain Road. Follow this route into the wilderness, past a pond, and left at the intersection. This branch of the route meanders through the lodgepole pines and into an exposed meadow.

Revel in the scenes of the Teton Mountains peeking above the tree line. At the following junction, take a sharp right, and you will be redirected westwardly past a pond abundant with waterfowls and, if you are lucky, the odd moose! Follow this route back into the woodlands, ultimately completing the loop at the intersection. From here, retrace your footing back to the trailhead and your vehicle.
