Granite Canyon Trail

Hike amongst the craggy peaks of the Teton Mountain Range on the Granite Canyon Trail. This lovely route boasts the opportunity to hike amongst wildflowers and wildlife, so make sure your camera is charged. Like all trails in the Tetons, make sure you carry a can of bear spray with you in the case of an encounter. While the route itself is not technical, the long-distance can be tiring, so make sure you pack plenty of water or a water filter to stay hydrated along the way. Note the Grand Teton National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.

Embark on your journey along the Granite Canyon Trail from the trailhead off Moose-Wilson Road. Heading out from here, the Granite Canyon Trail travels through a lush meadow before entering the mouth of the canyon. Beyond this point, the route will gradually ascend through the craggy canyon, weaving between woodlands and wildflower-cloaked meadows. Enjoy the relaxing ambiance the gurgling waters of Granite Creek provide as you climb. As you travel deeper into the wilderness, views of the Teton Mountains towering above will unfold before you—admire the grandeur of the crags and snap a few photos.

You will ultimately reach your turnaround point at the Granite Canyon Patrol Cabin, which is located at the intersection with the South Fork Granite Canyon Trail. To get back to the trailhead from here, simply retrace your footing along the path.
