Difficulty Rating:
The Triple Divide Pass Trail is a unique piece of Glacier National Park as it brings together three oceans as water flows off of its soaring mountain peaks and sweeps down into the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic oceans. The surrounding area is prime grizzly bear and white wolf territory, so make sure you pack some bear spray and make a lot of noise as you hike in this beautiful landscape. On your hike, keep a lookout for Medicine Grizzly Lake, but watch your balance as it can be windy, and there are some narrow and steep ledges!
Getting there
To get to Triple Divide Pass from Saint Mary’s Visitor Centre at Saint Mary’s Lake, head northwest on Glacier Route 1/Going-to-the-Sun Road and turn on Cut Bank Road heading west. After driving for 5.0mi, at the end of the gravel road (just past the Ranger residence) you will turn into a small parking lot and begin your hike.

Triple Divide Pass Trail Description
The Triple Divide Pass Trail is known for its unique hydrological apex, where the water melts from the surrounding mountains peaks and is flushed out into three oceans, the Atlantic, Arctic and the Pacific. Hiking through this phenomenon will expose you to views of Bad Marriage and Mad Wolf Mountain, and at 0.3mi, you will come out to Cut Bank Creek and will follow it for several miles.
Continuing on, you will see the peaks of Razoredge Mountain and begin to follow the Atlantic Creek. After a moderate but strenuous climb up the pass, the trees will begin to disperse, and you will see the sparkling blue waters of Medicine Grizzly Lake. From here, you will continue to the end of the trail with a fairly moderate hike.
