Prospect Mountain Hike Description

Located off the beaten path in a residential neighborhood, the Prospect Mountain Hike is a hidden gem. This incredibly steep but undeniably scenic path up the side of the mountain will get your heart rate up as you navigate the rocky unmarked trail. We recommend bringing a trail GPS to mitigate any chances of you getting lost. Note that parking is not plentiful because it is in a residential neighborhood, do your best to optimize the space provided at the end of Curry Lane. The terrain weaves between gravel and dirt paths up to the summit; bear in mind that it is very steep and not suitable for small children.

Begin your adventure up Prospect Mountain from the gate. Hike beyond the gate and find a worn, unmarked path-this is your trailhead. Hike north up the forested path and up a rocky ridge. As you travel up the path, you will get sights of the surrounding area peeking through the trees. Hike past downed trees and along the soft pine forest floor before the path guides you eastward before the final ascent to the peak. Climb up the now gravel route as it curves northwest up to the summit. Enjoy panoramic vistas of the neighborhood below and the craggy mountains that line the horizon from the summit.

Explore the mountain top and notice the tramline that climbs up the northside of the mountain. When you are ready to descend, retrace your steps back to the car.
