Loveland Lake Pass Trail Description
The Loveland Lake Pass Trail is a family-friendly trail among the numerous strenuous peak hikes in the area. Enjoy the scenic vistas without having to scramble up a pass to get them. This popular trail and its accompanying picnic area have a small parking lot off of CO-6. Be wary of tight parking spaces and park up the Mount Sniktau Parking Lot if necessary and walk down. This trail’s terrain is easy, and the path is explicitly marked. Enjoy the beautiful Colorado landscape along this wonderful hike.
This short path sure packs a lot of wow factors. Departing from the trailhead you are immediately granted with views of the Pass Lake and the surrounding alpine tundra. This high alpine lake is crystal clear and sits in the foreground of the striking craggy Colorado peaks. In the summer months enjoy the meadows exploding with wildflowers. Hike along the path until you reach two smaller unnamed lakes. If you brought your fishing rod, try your hand at catching some Trout in the Pass Lake! You might get lucky! This hike may be short, but man is it mighty.
Beginning from the picnic area and parking lot, hike along the eastern shores of the Pass Lake. Continue on the dirt path into the alpine tundra. Head south along the wildflower dotted path until you reach the two smaller lakes. From here, veer right and continue south. Follow the trail as it passes the two small basins and begins to curve east. Loop around the two lakes and enjoy the stunning Colorado scenery.
Follow along the route until it delivers you back to the picnic area. Revel in the vistas of the flanking craggy cliffs and lush Colorado vegetation.
