The Chair Rocks Hike is a unique excursion in the Pikes National Forest. Trek through vast, grassy meadowlands, through rock outcroppings and ponderosa pines up to the geological wonder that are the Chair Rocks. The journey to the granite spires is nothing to call home about, but the grandeur of the Chair Rocks make up for the bland hike.

Chair Rocks Hike Description

The Chair Rocks Trail is a hike unlike no other in the Pikes National Forest. Travel along the meadow-cloaked route to the main attraction: the Chair Rocks. This trail is entirely exposed, so avoid this hike on hot, sunny summer days. If you do venture this path, ensure to pack plenty of water as there are no water sources along the way for you and your pup to rehydrate.

Embark on your journey up to the Chair Rocks from the Colorado Trail Segment 2 trailhead. From the trailhead, follow the Colorado Trail Segment 2 northeast. This route will guide you through the grassy plains. Ignore intersecting paths and notice the rolling Front Range peaks that line the horizon. Continue hiking through the meadows as the path gently undulates. As you advance the Chair Rocks will come into sight. Appreciate the grandeur of these unique geological sculptures before you begin your ascent.

Eventually you will encounter an intersection, from here, trek north and scramble up Chair Rocks. Explore the impressive granite spires that stick out from the mundane plains. From the summit, notice the similar Cathedral Spires. Adventure the summit and take plenty of photos before commencing your descent. When you are ready, retrace your steps all the way back to the trailhead.
