Teapot Hill

Teapot Hill is a quirky trail in Cultus Lake Provincial Park that is decorated with old tea sets and features nice views of Cultus Lake. Along the route, hikers can expect a largely flat trail with some smaller inclines and one relatively steep climb to the top of Teapot Hill. While you likely won’t need hiking footwear to complete this hike, you should at least wear good running shoes while out on the trail. Additionally, this route can become quite muddy during wetter months of the year, so keep that in mind if you are planning to hike Teapot Hill in the spring or autumn.

This trail is a perfect outing for hikers of all skill levels due to the minimal elevation gain and the scenic views over Cultus Lake that can be seen through the tree cover. Along the trail, hikers will pass through a beautiful stretch of forest that typifies the landscape of the West Coast. As previously mentioned, the trail is also decorated with old teapots and teacups, making for a fun, quirky afternoon of counting how many of these oddly placed objects you can spot along the route. In addition to this, the trail contains informative signs outlining the various types of plant life in the area, which makes this a fun and educational hike that the entire family will enjoy.

Setting out from the parking area next to Cultus Lake, make your way south along the service road where you will find an outhouse and a trail map in roughly 100m. Continue along the road as it gradually climbs uphill alongside Teapot Creek before crossing over it in a southwest direction.

Roughly 1969ft after crossing the creek you will come to a junction in the trail. Take the path to the right to set off on the trail leading up Teapot Hill. After passing by an informative sign about the plant life in the area, the trail will begin to climb more steeply uphill and reveal scenic views over Cultus Lake.

Having reached the top of Teapot Hill, continue another 984ft or so along the trail to access a viewpoint looking south toward the Canada-United States border. After taking in the nice views and tallying up the number of tea sets that you spotted along the trail, head back down along the same route to return to the parking lot beside Cultus Lake.
