Lindeman Lake Trail Description

The Lindeman Lake Trail is a short hiking route in Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park that features some rocky and technical terrain and ends up at a beautiful turquoise lake. While the trail isn’t overly difficult or long, it does have some step sections and a few small boulder fields. Hikers should make sure to wear proper hiking footwear and bring any additional gear, such as crampons or microspikes, that might be necessary in wet/icy conditions. Additionally, this trail can become heavily trafficked, especially at later parts of the day. It’s best to arrive early to the trailhead in order to secure parking and beat out the crowds to the lake.

The trail may be moderate in difficulty but the variation in terrain from crossing boulder fields to uphill climbs through the forest makes for a pleasant hike through some beautiful country. The highlight of the hike is the arrival at the turquoise waters of Lindeman Lake, which serves as the perfect spot to hang out by the water’s edge, although even in the summer it’s a bit too chilly for a swim. Around the lake you will be taken aback by the scenic woodland setting and the majestic mountain backdrop that creates such a picturesque atmosphere. This is definitely a hike that you won’t want to miss.

Setting out on the trail at the northern end of the parking lot, hike through the dense tree cover for a few metres until you come to a junction in the trail. Take the path to the left and follow it through the forest for 1804ft, where you will reach a boulder field. The terrain here isn’t difficult but it is technical, so watch your footing and take your time traversing it.

After crossing over a bridge, the trail will begin to climb steeply uphill along a stretch that is well-marked but a bit slippery due to loose dirt and rocks. From here, it is a straight shot to the lake, so continue on pushing your way uphill and you will arrive there in no time. Once you reach the lake you will be greeted by the pristine, turquoise water that looks extremely inviting on a hot day. Unfortunately, the temperature of the lake is fairly cold year-round, often resulting in only the bravest adventurers jumping in for a frigid dip. After taking in the beautiful scenery of the woodlands and mountains around the lake, head back down the Lindeman Lake Trail to return to the trailhead and your parked car.
