Fisher Point Hike Description

Fisher Point is a viewpoint over Walnut Canyon not far outside of Flagstaff in the Coconino National Forest. Walnut Canyon is quite beautiful, and you can appreciate the layers of rock visible in the canyon walls, which are the same layers you’d observe in the nearby Grand Canyon. Also, appreciate that there used to be a thriving pueblo community in this canyon!

From the trailhead (you’ll have to park in a community, so just make sure you’re not blocking any driveways), head out on the Fisher Point Trail. You’ll soon leave all traces of residential life and hike through the forest. Stay right at the first junction and then go straight through the next. Dip into Skunk Canyon as you get closer to the viewpoint, following the canyon to the junction with the trail that leads up to the point. Admire the view!

When you’re ready, you’ll return to the trailhead by backtracking along the same route.
