Mount Falcon Lookout Hike Description

The Mount Falcon Lookout Hike is a great adventure for those seeking a short but rewarding hike near Denver. Highly frequented, the terrain is easily manageable for children and novice hikers alike, just make sure you are acclimated to the area’s altitude prior to your ascent. It is also a good idea to pack water as the route travels through exposed areas that can be unbearably warm in the summer months. We also suggest packing a camera because there is no doubt that you will want photos from the scenic overlook!

Embark on your adventure to the Mount Falcon Lookout from the trailhead. From here, track southeast along the Castle Trail. The initial segment of the adventure will pass through luxuriant grassy meadowlands. Ignore the intersection with the Parmalee Trail and follow the Castle Trail up the mountain. At the next junction, turn right and you will be diverted onto the Meadow Trail. Hike this path, merging onto the Towers Trail at the next fork in the road. Trek past the Eagle Eye Shelter and you will soon summit Mount Falcon.

Revel in the panoramic views of the Front Range foothills and the verdant forests below. On a clear day, you may even be rewarded with sights of Mount Evans in the west. Admire the mountainous landscape and when you are ready to return, simply backtrack along the path to the trailhead.
