Hiking Hoodoo Creek is very straightforward, but be warned—it’s extremely steep. This trail heads straight up the face of Abraham Mountain along Hoodoo Creek to an excellent viewpoint. If you are up for the challenge, you will be rewarded with unforgettable views of Abraham Lake.
Getting there
From Nordegg, travel 23.6mi westbound on Highway 11 before pulling over to park for Hoodoo Creek. You will see the creek running by the road, and you will be below Abraham Mountain.

Hoodoo Creek Hike Trail Description:
Hoodoo Creek is a moderate half-day hike perfect for intermediate hikers. It’s steep as it rises 1969ft in only 1.6mi, so be prepared for a leg burner. The trail follows the creek up the face of Abraham Mountain. This is not the Abraham Mountain route. Make your way up Hoodoo Creek to a good lookout over Abraham Lake. If you’re up for the steep incline, this is an excellent way to catch views of the grand Abraham Lake.
