The Grand Wash Trail via Northeast Trailhead

The Grand Wash Trail is a great hike that is tons of fun for the whole family. This hike is one of the most popular trails in Capitol Reef National Park, so be sure to arrive early in the day to beat the crowds and snag a parking spot at the trailhead. The Grand Wash Trail is most commonly done as an out-and-back route, but it can also be hiked one way by leaving a shuttle vehicle down at the Cassidy Arch Trailhead, where this Grand Wash Trail ends. This hike does have shady sections as it winds its way through the canyon but still be prepared to battle the desert sun with proper sun protection and lots of water.

From the Northeast trailhead, follow the well-marked path southwest for 2.3mi. After this length, you will reach a divide, take a left, to end at the Cassidy Trailhead or turn around to head back up to the Grand Wash Trailhead where you began.
