The Echo Mountain Loop Trail is a tough climb into the mountains outside of Altadena that will take you to the top of Echo Mountain for beautiful views.The Echo Mountain Trail is a beautifully scenic, albeit challenging, adventure in the Angeles National Forest that features rugged terrain and beautiful views. While out on the trail, you will pass through the Cobb Estate and climb up into the mountains through a fire break, passing by the ruins of the Mount Lowe Observatory before arriving at the summit of Echo Mountain. Be sure to display your adventure pass in your vehicle before setting out on your hike.

For those adventurers looking to explore the rugged terrain of the Angeles National Forest and don’t mind a bit of hard work, the Echo Mountain Loop is a good option to explore. This route utilizes a fire break to climb into the mountains, so be prepared for a rocky and hard-going experience!

Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northeast through the Cobb Estate, which is said to be haunted. From here, you will utilize a fire break and clamber uphill to the north to reach the Mount Lowe Motorway.

After following this to the east, the route will turn southeast past the ruins of the Mount Lowe Observatory, before arriving at the summit of Echo Mountain for beautiful views across the surrounding landscape. From here, you will descend the mountain to the southwest to eventually arrive back at the trailhead where you began.
