Emigration Canyon Miners Trail Description
The Emigration Canyon Miners Trail follows an old mining road and actually passes the site of an old mine. This trail ends with a steep ascent up to a viewpoint that may not be appropriate for all dogs (or hikers); however, the terrain up until that point is at a minor-to-moderate incline and the views along the trail are gorgeous. We recommend that you choose an appropriate turn-around point at your own discretion. Overall, the Emigration Canyon Miners Trail is a fun, dog-friendly hike east of Salt Lake City that’s a great place to get out for some exercise with your favorite four-legged friend.
From the trailhead, follow the old mining road as it curves southwest then back north through the forest. As you continue west the trail will get steeper and steeper. Either continue upwards to the viewpoint at the trail junction or turn back when you’ve had enough.
