Campbell Mesa Loop Description
The Campbell Mesa Loop is a wonderful hike that’s easy to reach from Flagstaff, especially the eastern side of the city. This route is family-friendly and dog-friendly and in the summer, there are swaths of purple wildflowers along the trail. You might be lucky enough to spot some elk and unlucky enough to see tarantulas on this hike.
This easy to follow route is well-defined and well-signed, so a downloaded GPS route isn’t a necessity. You may come across mountain bikers, so remember to share the trail.
From the trailhead, go left onto Forest Service Road 790. Go straight through the first junction and then take the second trail on your right at the next, which will get you onto Campbell Mesa Trail. Bear left at the fork with Anasazi Trail. Cruise through the loop, soaking up the scenery. On the return trip, you’ll stay right through two junctions before reaching the trailhead once again.
