Difficulty Rating:
If you’re exploring the Coyote Wall but want to skip some of the more difficult terrain, the 3.9mi Old Ranch Road and Little Maui Loop is a great pick. This hike gives you the scenery you’d expect from this part of the Columbia River Gorge without the most intense hiking on the far west side of the wall. If you want the more intense terrain, try the Coyote Wall Loop or the Coyote Wall Labyrinth Loop.

Old Ranch Road and Little Maui Loop Description
The Coyote Wall offers great views of the Columbia River Gorge from the river to the mountains. You’ll be able to see Mount Hood and admire miles and miles of the sparkling water. In addition, your hike takes you past Little Maui Falls. Download a GPS track and a map to help you plan your adventure.
Beginning from the parking area, hike alongside Locke Lake on Old Highway 8 towards the wall. Go left at the junction, taking Old Ranch Road #4426. Switchback your way up the wall and then cross the stream onto Little Maui Trail, turning right to weave down the wall beside the stream. Check out Little Maui Falls and then bear right at the Labyrinth Connector. This will take you back to the bottom of the loop where you’ll turn left to return to the parking area.
