The Upper Summit Trail is a 1.9mi out-and-back hiking route in Mount Revelstoke National Park that leads up to several vantage points atop the mountain and provides amazing views over the surrounding scenery. The trail passes through pleasant stretches of forest and meadow before arriving at the area around Heather Lake. If you would like to hike the trail when it is a little less busy, try getting to the trailhead early to beat the crowds or on a weekday if you can find the spare time.
Getting there
To get to the parking area for the Jade Lakes Trail from the Trans Canada Highway in Revelstoke, take the exit for Mt. Revelstoke National Park and continue along the Meadows in the Sky Parkway for 15.3mi, where you will find the parking area next to Balsam Lake.

Upper Summit Trail Description
The Upper Summit Trail sets out from the parking area next to Balsam Lake and climbs uphill to the viewpoints at the top of Mount Revelstoke. This is a fairly easy hike through stretches of forest and alpine meadows that provide hikers with numerous opportunities to survey the surrounding landscape. Arriving at the summit, you will be able to explore the area around Heather Lake, as well as the two viewpoints known as the North and South Parapets. From here, you can look out across the valley and view the rugged mountains off in the distance. At other points along the route, you will be able to look out into the wild expanse of Mount Revelstoke National Park for some truly spectacular views. This moderate trail is a great starting point from which you can explore the area on top of the mountain.
