Snake Lake Trail Description

Boasting awe-inspiring views of the Wind River Mountain Range as you hike through grazing cattle, the Snake Lake Trail packs a punch. While this amazing adventure is easier than most treks in the Winds, this route does demand a bit of stamina, so make sure to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated! Additionally, there is often a blowdown obstructing the path, so come prepared to do some scrambling. Note that the road to the road to the trailhead is rough and rugged. Thus a vehicle with high ground clearance is required.

Your journey to Snake Lake begins from the Willow Lake Trailhead. From here, you will be guided westwardly, climbing down the forested ridge to the shoreline of Willow Lake. The path will redirect you north when you reach the lakeshore, boasting great views of the bounding granite bluffs. After some hiking, the path will enter an expansive meadow often abundant with grazing cattle. Continue trekking, and you will pass into the Bridger Wilderness. When you ultimately reach an intersection, you will want to keep right onto the Snake Lake Trail.

Traveling along Lake Creek, you will ultimately reach Snake Lake. Wander along the sandy shoreline and marvel at the views of the granite mountainscape. When you are ready, head back to the trailhead the way you came.
