The Whiskey Island Lake Trail is a beautiful hike in the western Uintas. This hike follows an unmaintained trail and requires some creative route finding. If you are looking for an adventure in a stunning, secluded section of the Utah wilderness, the Whiskey Island Lake Trail is the hike for you.
Getting there
From Kamas, Utah, head east out of town on highway 150 for 37.0mi. Turn left onto Whiskey Creek Road and park on the roadside. The Whiskey Island Lake Trail begins here.

Whiskey Island Lake Trail Description
The Whiskey Island Lake Trail is a moderately challenging, adventurous trail in the western Uintas. This hike follows a forest road then branches off along a rugged trail to Whiskey Island Lake. Route finding experience is necessary for this trail, and we recommend bringing a map and/or GPS unit along on this hike to help with navigation. If you are up for a challenge, the hike to Whiskey Island lake is a fun adventure in a beautiful area. This secluded spot is a great place to relax and enjoy a slice of Utah wilderness all to yourself.
From Highway 150, park your vehicle along Whiskey Creek Road, then hike up the road heading northwest. Approximately a mile and a half in, take the rugged path on your left to meet up with Whiskey Creek. Follow the creek bed southwest to Whiskey Island Lake.
Enjoy a rest on the shores of Whiskey Island Lake before turning around and retracing your steps back to the vehicle.
