The Lily Lake Trail is a gorgeous route in the Western Uintas. This trail is moderately challenging but a good, family-friendly hike for kids of all ages. Dogs are welcome on the Lily Lake Trail but must be kept on leash at all times.
Getting there
From Kamas, Utah, head east on highway 150/Mirror Lake Scenic Highway for 47.0mi. Turn off onto Forest Road 340. The Lily Lake Trail begins here.

Lily Lake Trail Description
The Lily Lake Trail is a great, family-friendly hike near the Utah/Wyoming border. This trail may be short, but it does have a consistent uphill climb. Arrive prepared with proper hiking footwear and lots of water. If you are hiking with a dog, your pup must be kept on a leash at all times. The Lily Lake Trail is a common place to see forest wildlife such as moose, deer, and porcupines. While seeing wildlife is amazing, you don’t want your pup getting into trouble with a wild animal. If you do see wildlife, do not feed them and be sure to admire all animals from a safe and respectful distance.
The hike to Lily Lake is a great route for families and beginner-hikers. This trail is moderately strenuous, but it is an appropriate challenge for most folks. At the end of this short hike, the reward is totally worth the uphill climb to get there. Lily Lake is a fantastic spot to kick back, relax, and enjoy the serenity of the Utah wilderness.
To hike to Lily Lake, begin on Forest Road 340 on the east side of Highway 150. From FR 340, take the trail east for 0.9mi to an ATV/OHV trail. Cross over the OHV trail to hike a short distance to a second ATV/OHV trail, cross this trail to hike the last0.2mi to the shores of Lily Lake.
Set up a hammock or a picnic blanket and enjoy an afternoon in the sun at Lily Lake. When you are ready to head home, simply retrace your footsteps back to the Forest Road where you began.

Lily Lake Yurt
On your hike to Lily Lake, you may notice a strange structure on the lake’s northeastern shore. This is the Lily Lake Yurt. Managed by the Bear River Outdoor Recreation Alliance, the Lily Lake Yurt is one of six yurts in the area that are available for rental year-round. Each yurt is outfitted with bunk beds, propane stove, propane, kitchen utensils, and firewood. The Bear River Outdoor Recreation Alliance is a non-profit organization based out of Evanston, Wyoming, that works to build and maintain local trails and encourage folks to get outside and enjoy the beauty of the Uinta wilderness.
