Hell Hole Lake via Stillwater Campground Description

The hike to Hell Hole Lake via the Stillwater Campground is a beautiful route in the Western Uintas. This trail does not have a lot of shade and can get very hot in the summer sunshine. We suggest starting out early in the day to beat the heat. This route is primarily used as a horseback riding trail so be sure to keep an eye out for horses on your hike and keep your dog close, especially if they are reactive to other animals. Despite the name, Hell Hole Lake is a gorgeous spot, where you can fish, camp, or just relax lakeside and enjoy the incredible scenery around you.

Beginning at the end of FR306, follow the Main Fork Stillwater Trail south along the creek. Stay to your right, where the trail divides to make your way to Hell Hole Lake.

Enjoy an afternoon or a night on the shores of Hell Hole Lake. When you are ready to head home, retrace your footsteps back to FR306, where you began.
