Hayden Pass to Christmas Meadows is an ambitious hike in the western Uintas. This trail is technical and challenging and should be attempted by experienced hikers only. As is implied by the name, this is a one-way hike, so be sure to arrange for a shuttle or pick up ahead of time. A strenuous hike with some steep and challenging sections, the trail from Hayden Pass to Christmas Meadows is richly rewarding with incredible views of the Utah wilderness and an experience you will never forget.

Starting at the Highline Trailhead across from Butterfly Lake, follow the path eastward and stay right at the divide to hike up and over Hayden Pass. On the other side of the pass, continue east past Ryder Lake and McPheters Lake along the Stillwater Trail. Stick to the Stillwater Trail as it curves north to bring you safely to your destination: Christmas Meadows.

At Christmas Meadows, catch your ride home or set up camp to enjoy a restful night under the Utah stars.
