The Duck Lake Trail is a gorgeous hike in the western Uinta Mountain Range. This trail makes for a moderately challenging day hike, or an easy, introductory backpacking route. With lots of opportunities to fish, and some fantastic camping spots, the Duck Lake Trail is a fantastic family-friendly route in the Utah wilderness.
Getting there
From Kamas, Utah, head east along highway 150 for 24.6mi then take a left onto Forest Road 041. Continue along FR 041 to a divide, take a right then park at the Crystal Lake Trailhead parking lot just past the Washington Lake Campground.

Duck Lake Trail Description
The Duck Lake Trail is a beautiful route east of Park City, Utah. This trail travels through a series of alpine lakes and can get quite buggy. Be sure to bring bug spray and/or wear long layers to combat the mosquitoes. Mosquitoes aside, this trail is gorgeous. The Duck Lake Trail brings you past a series of pristine alpine lakes, each seemingly more beautiful than the last. Whether you are heading out for a day hike or an overnight backpacking trip, the Duck Lake Trail is an excellent route in the Uinta Mountains.
From the Crystal Lake Trailhead, follow the Lakes Country Trail 216 along the north shore of Crystal Lake. Once you are past Crystal Lake, continue westward to a divide. At the divide, take the North Fork Provo River Trail on your left to head southwest to another divide. Stay right at this divide to follow the Duck Lake Trail past Weir Lake and Pot Reservoir to Duck Lake.
Enjoy a rest on the shores of Duck Lake and, if you are feeling daring, go for a swim in the chilly water before turning around and heading back to the Crystal Lake Trailhead the way you came.
