Cataract Gorge Trail Description

The Cataract Gorge Trail is a beautiful trail in western Uintas. Access to this trail does require a vehicle with high clearance and four-wheel drive. If you do not have such a vehicle, you can park just off Highway 150 and hike to the trailhead; however, this adds about 4.0mi to your hike (round-trip). The Cataract Gorge Trail is used by hikers, mountain-bikers, and OHV drivers; when hiking, stay aware of your surroundings and allow folks on wheels to pass you by. This trail does not get a lot of visitors throughout the year but for no good reason. The hike along the Cataract Gorge Trail features stunning views and an incredible waterfall. If you have the ability to access this hike, this trail is not one to miss.

Beginning at the Murdock ATV Trailhead, follow E Portal Road southeast along Little Deer Creek and up the switchbacks to the Duchesne River. Enjoy a rest and the incredible views along the riverbank before turning around and retracing your steps back to the trailhead where you began
