The Seven Sisters Walk from Birling Gap is a stunning pathfull of wildflowers in the summer months and animals in their natural habitat and archaeology. This area was used as a training camp during 1914, and humps in the ground, previously used as training trenches, are still visible. This walk leads to the highlight of the Seven Sisters chalk-white cliffside that borders the ocean.

Seven Sisters Walk Description

The Seven Sisters Walk takes you on a journey through areas filled with wildflowers and rolling hills that surround the history that lies below and brings you to the incredible views of the Seven Sisters cliffside. During the summer months, colourful wildflowers can be seen dancing around the path, and if you look closely, you will see humps in the ground from the 1914 training trenches.

Beginning at Birling Gap, you will walk along the cliffside of Seven Sisters and be dazzled by gorgeous views of the sparkling, emerald green lake. As the cliffs leave the ocean and begin to climb, they shine bright white in the sunlight from their chalk-like substance. Follow the South Downs Way and find yourself in Exceat, where it is rumoured that Alfred the Great had a naval base during his war with the Vikings. When you finish exploring, turn and head back the way you came as the Seven Sisters hike is an out-and-back trail.
